Little Chick becomes Medium Chick

Here is Little Chick at only 3 weeks old.
She has butterfly-sized wings and the first of her wing feathers are coming through, but she's still covered in super-cute fluff. A few weeks on and she's a very different shape and taking her duties as professional hen very seriously, she knows how to have a dust bath.

We still have to keep an eye on her as she's small enough for the cat to have a go... and he tried a couple of times. But a few more weeks on and Little Chick is looking very like Cheri Blair.

What a change!
It's been fascinating to watch Little Chick develop and grow, particularly the feathers which start by emerging from her chick fluff as sort of sprouting little pony tails and then a day later, it's a feather. Feathers grow all over her body randomly. One day a spurt on the chest, the next day three new feathers will appear on her head, then her pantaloons start to develop.
She still has her little white fluffy bib under her chin and more feathers come through every day. Still half in her pyjamas, the day approaches when she'll get her first full set of clothes and also... we will soon find out if she really is a she... or a he!
