Suspicious hens with suspicious minds.

Somehow real hens, and pottery hens, share a curiosity for all things. They are also very suspicious. In my experience, real hens stare when they are weighing up the possibility that what they are looking at is edible.

So real hens do this...

But pottery hens do the same thing.

I know, I know, they aren't real. But they still give you that look, with the one eye, only the one eye mind, that's when they're having a really good stare. And trust me, I know hens, they only give you a good look, with the one eye, when they plan on pecking you.

These lovely brown pottery hens are so much nicer than the slightly over-done hens with polka dots, and too much pink that are more fashionable nowadays.

The light brown one is more ornate. A fine hen in fact, and I love the fact you can see the beautiful eggs she's sitting on. She's also got a very contented look on her face, at least from a distance.

While the dark brown girly, is keeping her cards close to her feathered chest. Where are those eggs? She's alert though, with her head up, and slightly turned.

But if you'd prefer to be super-posh, and can't face the beady eye of any hen as you reach for an egg, then this pressed glass egg dish is the item for you.

Oh dear, they've found the eggs.
